Therapy Modalities
-
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) is an evidence-based treatment for treating trauma based disorders such as PTSD. It is also effective at creating permanent change for a wide range of life challenges such as low self esteem, relationship difficulties, anxiety, depression, grief, and addictions. During an EMDR reprocessing session, you are guided to focus on a source of distress while following guided eye movements, tapping, or bilateral sounds in order to change the way painful memories are stored in your brain and body. Since EMDR reprocessing changes the way memory is stored, it leads to a permanent reduction in distress rather teaching you new ways to cope with it. Learn more about EMDR Therapy.

“Part of me feels this way, but part of me feels that way.” Our psyche is multifaceted and exploring our internal world with “parts work” provides a powerful doorway to healing and building self compassion. Everyone has different parts of themselves, and working with them can resolve internal conflict and lead to greater self-understanding. My approach to parts work combines Ego State Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy.

Ketamine Assisted EMDR Therapy™ combines the healing power of ketamine with the proven effectiveness of EMDR to help individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety, and emotional distress. Ketamine can create a relaxed, expanded state of awareness, making it easier to explore difficult memories and emotions without feeling overwhelmed. In a safe, supportive setting, clients are able to process unresolved trauma, reduce anxiety, and build new, healthier patterns of thinking. Research shows that Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) can offer faster relief than traditional therapy alone, especially for those who have not fully responded to other treatments. To learn more about this approach and how it can be combined with EMDR therapy, please visit my website on Ketamine Assisted EMDR Therapy™.

Somatic techniques help individuals become more aware of physical sensations and how they relate to emotions and past experiences. Understanding nervous system responses such as fight/flight/freeze/fawn can provide an entirely different perspective on symptoms that are often pathologized. Learning about your unique nervous system responses will empower you to discover tools that help you achieve better self regulation. I’m certified in the “Safe and Sound Protocol”, which is an auditory intervention designed to improve emotional regulation by stimulating the Vagus nerve- Developed by Steven Porges, the creator of “Polyvagal Theory”.

Clinical hypnosis is a treatment that helps a person relax and focus deeply, so they can be more open to helpful suggestions. During hypnosis, you may feel very calm and focused as you enter into a trance. In this state, you may be more open to suggestions and can access deeper mental and emotional processes. This can help with problems like pain, stress, anxiety, or changing certain habits.

I am certified in Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), a specialized form of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) that is a highly effective, evidence-based therapy primarily used to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and other anxiety-related conditions. In ERP, clients are gradually exposed to feared thoughts, images, or situations while resisting the urge to engage in compulsive behaviors that typically serve to reduce their anxiety. Over time, this process helps retrain the brain to tolerate distress without relying on compulsions, leading to a decrease in anxiety and symptom severity. ERP is considered the gold standard treatment for OCD and is strongly supported by clinical research.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a type of therapy that helps people manage strong emotions, improve relationships, and cope with stress. It combines elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy with mindfulness practices. DBT teaches skills in four main areas: emotion regulation, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness. The goal is to help individuals balance acceptance of themselves with the need to make positive changes in their lives.
How do I get started? What can I expect?
1. Free Consultation
Your first step is to schedule a free 20-minute consultation. This gives us a chance to talk about what you're looking for in therapy, what I offer, and whether we’re a good fit. This also gives you an idea of what it feels like to meet with me online over Zoom so that we can determine if online therapy is a good option for you. If it feels like a match, we’ll schedule your first session.
2. Forms and Assessments
Before your first session, you’ll complete a set of consent forms and assessments through a secure online portal. These forms help me understand your history and what you’re hoping to address in therapy.
3. First Session: Diagnostic Assessment & Treatment Planning (60 minute session)
In this session, we’ll review the information you filled out in your forms and I’ll ask additional questions to provide an accurate diagnosis. A diagnosis is required both by insurance providers and by the licensing board in my home state, even if you're not using insurance. If you have concerns about receiving a diagnosis, we can discuss them during the consultation. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan outlining your therapy goals and my recommendations for how we’ll work toward them.
4. Sessions 2–5: Psychoeducation, Coping Skills & Preparation (60 minute sessions)
During these first few sessions, you’ll discover more about how you were shaped by your biology, life experiences, and earliest relationships. I’ll help you build coping skills tailored to your needs and assess your readiness for processing distressing memories. We will also map out the different triggers and responses you wish to change and identify the memories that we will target in EMDR therapy to help you make the changes you desire.
5. Session 5 and Beyond: EMDR & Trauma Processing (60-90 minute sessions)
Once you're adequately prepared, we may begin EMDR therapy to process specific memories that contribute to your current challenges. If you have complex trauma, we may begin with other approaches—such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Ego State Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, or Somatic Therapy—to support emotional regulation and readiness for trauma work.
6. Ending Therapy
We’ll regularly review your progress and check the progress toward your goals throughout therapy. When you feel you've met your goals, we’ll plan a thoughtful conclusion to therapy.
The pace and length of therapy are always individualized and collaborative.
