Whether you're located in Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Bellevue, or anywhere in the state, I provide virtual EMDR sessions designed to fit your life and support your healing.
As a Certified EMDR therapist and trauma specialist, I offer telehealth EMDR therapy that is private, accessible, and grounded in compassion. You’ll receive personalized, one-on-one care from a Washington-licensed provider in a space that feels safe, inclusive, and attuned to your unique needs.
My work focuses on helping adults process unresolved trauma, ease emotional overwhelm, and build lasting resilience — using EMDR and other integrative, trauma-informed approaches tailored to you.
What Is EMDR Therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a well-researched, evidence-based therapy that helps people recover from trauma, anxiety, and distressing life experiences. Recognized by organizations like the American Psychiatric Association, World Health Organization, and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, EMDR is proven effective for a wide range of issues.
Unlike traditional talk therapy, EMDR allows the brain to reprocess painful or overwhelming memories in a way that supports lasting emotional relief. In a session, you'll briefly focus on a distressing memory while engaging in bilateral stimulation—such as guided eye movements or tapping. This process helps the brain release stuck material and form new, more adaptive associations, reducing the emotional charge tied to past events.
EMDR can help with:
Childhood trauma and attachment wounds
Chronic stress and emotional overwhelm
Depression, grief, and emotional dysregulation
Parenting stress, relationship challenges, and burnout
Neurodivergent and LGBTQIA+ clients seeking affirming therapy
Chronic pain and somatic symptoms
Whether you're working through long-standing trauma or more recent stressors, EMDR offers a direct path to healing. And with the convenience of online therapy, this transformative work is more accessible than ever.

About Me
Hi, I’m Meghan Gilliland, LCSW. I’m a trauma therapist dedicated to helping adults heal from the lasting effects of trauma, anxiety, grief, and early attachment wounds. I am licensed to provide online therapy to clients located in Arizona, Oregon, Washington, and Massachusetts, with a focus on creating a supportive space where you can safely explore and resolve the roots of emotional pain.
I’m certified in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and integrate a range of trauma-informed approaches into my work—including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Ego State Therapy, somatic practices, and mindfulness. I also offer Ketamine-Assisted EMDR Therapy™ for those seeking alternative pathways to healing.
In addition to working with adults navigating the effects of trauma, I specialize in providing therapy for other therapists, healers, and helping professionals who want space to do their own inner work. I also serve as an EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, supporting clinicians in their growth as trauma-informed EMDR practitioners.
At the heart of my work is a belief that healing is possible—and that therapy should support not only symptom relief, but a deeper reconnection to yourself, your values, and your capacity for meaningful relationships.
What to Expect From Online EMDR Therapy
1. Free Consultation
Your first step is to schedule a free 20-minute consultation. This gives us a chance to talk about what you're looking for in therapy, what I offer, and whether we’re a good fit. This also gives you an idea of what it feels like to meet with me online over Zoom so that we can determine if online therapy is a good option for you. If it feels like a match, we’ll schedule your first session.
2. Forms and Assessments
Before your first session, you’ll complete a set of consent forms and assessments through a secure online portal. These forms help me understand your history and what you’re hoping to address in therapy.
3. First Session: Diagnostic Assessment & Treatment Planning (60 minute session)
In this session, we’ll review the information you filled out in your forms and I’ll ask additional questions to provide an accurate diagnosis. A diagnosis is required both by insurance providers and by the licensing board in my home state, even if you're not using insurance. If you have concerns about receiving a diagnosis, we can discuss them during the consultation. Together, we’ll create a personalized treatment plan outlining your therapy goals and my recommendations for how we’ll work toward them.
4. Sessions 2–5: Psychoeducation, Coping Skills & Preparation (60 minute sessions)
During these first few sessions, you’ll discover more about how you were shaped by your biology, life experiences, and earliest relationships. I’ll help you build coping skills tailored to your needs and assess your readiness for processing distressing memories. We will also map out the different triggers and responses you wish to change and identify the memories that we will target in EMDR therapy to help you make the changes you desire.
5. Session 5 and Beyond: EMDR & Trauma Processing (60-90 minute sessions)
Once you're adequately prepared, we may begin EMDR therapy to process specific memories that contribute to your current challenges. If you have complex trauma, we may begin with other approaches—such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), Ego State Therapy, Clinical Hypnosis, or Somatic Therapy—to support emotional regulation and readiness for trauma work.
6. Ending Therapy
We’ll regularly review your progress and check the progress toward your goals throughout therapy. When you feel you've met your goals, we’ll plan a thoughtful conclusion to therapy. The pace and length of therapy are always individualized and collaborative.

Yes. Washington licensing laws require that you are physically located in the state during each therapy session. If you travel frequently, we can still meet online as long as you are within Washington borders at the time of your appointment.
I am also licensed in the states of Oregon, Arizona and Massachusetts- so if you travel to these states, I’ll be able to meet with you when you are there.

I am an Out of Network provider, which means I do not bill insurance companies directly. Instead, I provide a detailed receipt called a “superbill” that you can submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, depending on your Out of Network mental health benefits. Many clients are able to receive some cost coverage for their sessions this way. I recommend contacting your insurance provider to ask about your Out of Network benefits for telehealth therapy. The service code that I use for my standard 60 minute sessions is CPT 90837.
To simplify the process of using out of network benefits, I suggest using a service called Reimbursify.

While online EMDR therapy is effective for many people, it may not be appropriate for individuals who are experiencing active suicidal ideation, recent psychiatric hospitalization, untreated psychosis, or severe dissociation that makes it difficult to stay present and grounded during sessions. If you're unsure, we can talk during a free consultation to determine whether online therapy is the right level of care for you—or if a higher level of support might be more appropriate.
Serving clients across the state of Washington, my online therapy practice is proud to support individuals in Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma, Vancouver, Bellevue, Kent, Everett, Renton, Spokane Valley, Federal Way, Bellingham, Kirkland, Kennewick, Auburn, Pasco, Marysville, Redmond, Shoreline, and Richland, Lakewood, Sammamish, Burien, Olympia, Lacey, Edmonds, Bremerton, Puyallup, Lynnwood, and Mount Vernon, Walla Walla, Pullman, Moses Lake, Ellensburg, Port Angeles, Oak Harbor, Anacortes, Cheney, Wenatchee, and Leavenworth.
